What are the P2P price negotiation and payment rules?
Price negotiation and underpayment undermine trust in P2P trading and put both buyers and sellers at risk of disputes and losses. That's why OKX requires every merchant and user to complete transactions at the price and amount displayed in the order — with no off-platform negotiation, no added charges, and no changes to the agreed amount once an order is placed.
Displayed price is the price shown in the order at the moment it's placed. Counterparty is the other party in the trade — the buyer, if you're the seller, or the seller, if you're the buyer.
Note: OKX applies zero tolerance to price negotiation. Asking a buyer to pay more than the displayed price, or paying a seller less than the agreed amount — for any reason — trigger escalating penalties, up to permanent freeze.
What behaviours are prohibited during a P2P trade?
Asking the counterparty to negotiate or change the price after an order is placed
Requesting additional payment or fees beyond the displayed order price
Charging undisclosed transfer, conversion, or other additional fees
Intentionally paying less than the agreed order amount
What happens if a buyer underpays?
If a buyer pays less than the agreed order amount and the seller raises a dispute, the case may be treated as underpayment, even if the difference is small.
Example: The order is for 1,000 USDT, but the buyer sends the equivalent of 950 USDT and claims it was a bank charge fee. If the seller disputes it, this is treated as underpayment regardless of the buyer's intent.
Avoiding this: Double-check the exact amount before confirming your transfer, and contact the seller through OKX chat first if you think there's a genuine discrepancy — don't send a partial amount and explain afterward.

What happens if a seller charges additional fees?
Sellers mustn't request any undisclosed payment on top of the advertised price, including additional, transfer, or conversion fees.
Example: A seller messages "I can only send it if you add 2% for the bank transfer fee" after the order is placed. This counts as a violation even though the listed price was never officially changed.
Avoiding this: If your costs change after listing an ad, cancel the order and repost the ad at the new price — don't ask the buyer to cover the difference mid-trade.
